Oregon Virtual Academy
Oregon Virtual Academy is seeking talented Special Education Teachers. Our teachers should have a passion to provide students with a world class educational program that meets student’s needs. Teaching in a virtual charter school requires a strong educational background, excellent instructional skills and a firm commitment to student success. ORVA’s teachers may reside anywhere in the state with reliable internet, and are provided all needed equipment, and training.
SUMMARY:
The ideal candidate has knowledge and training in teaching Special Education; can demonstrate strong instructional skills; is comfortable working in a technology rich environment; stays current on recent research and pedagogy in the field; exhibits superior organizational and communication skills; is well versed in data and reporting tools; is compassionate and student centered; and can participate effectivly on a collaborative open-leadership team.
As part of their regular teaching responsibilities, teachers are expected to possess the following skills and fulfill duties in these areas:
- Good communications skills
- Knowledge of the current Oregon special education regulations and forms
- Ability to attend all IEP meetings(virtually), coordinate services with contractors, and support ORVA's teaching staff.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Oregon state standards and testing requirements
- Individualize instruction to help each student achieve
- Provide specially designed instruction based on student needs
- Provide students and parents with regular feedback regarding student goal progress
- Support students with special needs, including leading IEP teams
- Provide for a Virtual Instructional Environment:
- Create and manage home office
- Establish relationships with families
- Conduct virtual classes and educational activities for students and families
Qualifications Desired
- Dually Certified in Additional General Education Subjects
Qualifications Required
- Current Oregon secondary, or K-12 endorsements in Special Ed
- Degrees accepted: BA, BE, BS, MA, MAT, PHD

The Oregon Virtual Academy offers appropriate placement on the 2016-17 salary scale, insurance benefits, and membership in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS). ORVA currently pays the 6% employee contribution within PERS.
